Canyon Creek is a residential community located in northwest Austin. It is located off Ranch Road 620 near Ranch Road 2222. The community of over 1300 homes has a semi-rural Hill Country feeling despite being right down the road from major shopping and employment centers. 3M’s Austin campus is located just a couple miles away. The major thouroughfare running through Canyon Creek is Boulder Lane which menaders through the picturesque, upper-middleclass neighborhood of single family homes. The subdivision is about 5 miles from Lake Austin and Lake Travis.
Canyon Creek used to be ranch and hunting land. It was developed by the Blanton Company in the late 1980′s after the savings and loan meltdown. It is a completely masterplanned community filled with parks and hike and bike trails. The neighborhood experienced rapid development in the 1990′s and is very close to being completely built out. Homes in the neighborhood range from the $250′s to $800′s!
Canyon Creek Schools
Canyon Creek is served by two school districts: Round Rock Independent School District and Leander Independent School District. There are three schools children in Canyon Creek attend in RRISD: Canyon Creek Elementary School, Grisham Middle School and Westwood High School. Canyon Creek Elementary is a National Blue Ribbon school. Grisham Middle School was recently recognized as an International Baccalaurate World School (IB) where students can learn French, German and Spanish starting in 7th grade. Westwood High School is an Exemplary high school ranked number 78 in the US News and World Report survey in 2006.
In LISD, where their vision is “Every student is encouraged, supported, and challenged to achieve the highest levels of knowledge, skills, and character” also offers three schols for children living in Canyon creek: Grandview Hills Elementary School, Canyon Ridge Middle School and Cedar Park High School. Grandview Hills Elemetary School is in the accreditation process to being an International Baccalaurate World School (IB). Canyon Ridge Middle School was rated “Exemplary” by the State of Texas in 2010 and has Gold Performance Acknowledgements in Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. Cedar Park High school is a relatively new school adn has been recognized by the State of Texas for it’s academic programs and athletic programs.
Canyon Creek Shopping and Dining
Residents of Canyon Creek can enjoy the convenience of grocery shopping at the local HEB located just down the road at RR 2222 and RR 620. Also, located just 3 miles down RR 620 is Lakeline Mall which offers numerous department stores and a movie theatre. There are several places to eat out near Canyon Creek. A short drive down RR 620 is the ever popular Oasis Restaurant where one can enjoy unobstrcuted, panoramic views of Lake Travis while dining on one of there many outdoor decks! Right next door to the Oasis is the new Italian Restaurant – Soleil. Hudson’s at the Bend features fine dining with a “walk on the wild side”. They often feature wild game choices with exotic suaces to tempt your palate! And for the classic “steak and potatoes” try the Steiner Ranch Steakhouse. They feature fantastic happy hour specials and gorgeous Hill Country and Lake Views!
